Eiichiro Oda Picks Takano Ken as the New Editor for ‘One Piece’!

On March 29th 2019, the editorial department of One Piece live-streamed on the official One Piece channel announcing the switch in the editors.

It was revealed that Eiichiro Oda has decided a new editor for One Piece.
Sugiro Sugita, the former main editor and recent Media and PR editor, has stepped down from his position, with Takuma Naito ( the main manga editor since 2017 ) took his place as the new Media and PR editor.

Sugita was the 8th editor of One Piece and has served as the main editor of One Piece from June 2014 to January 2017. After that he was changed to Media and PR editor in 2017, with Naito becoming the 9th editor for the manga.

Now after 2 more years, Sugita has fully stepped down from the editorial team after 5 years of work. Consequently editor Naito also stepped down from his position as manga editor to be in charge of Media and PR.

Editor Takuma Naito has been replaced by the new manga editor, Takano Ken. He’ll be in charge of helping Oda write the story from now on.
After Sugita and Naito, the 27 year old Takano Ken has become the 10th editor of One Piece.
Like Naito and the previous editors, Oda has also told Takano about the ending of One Piece.

sandman_AP tweeted some valuable information about Takano Ken. Here is what it says.

Here is how the One Piece editors’ succession works.

As of now there is not much information available about Takano Ken but since Shueisha has picked him to be the next editor, he must be upto the job. Let’s hope One Piece is in good hands.

At this moment One Piece is more than 80% complete. Some claim that it will only last for about 4 more years, so it will probably have one more editor in the future (at the end of 2021).

Here are all the editors of One Piece over the years.
