‘One Piece’ Ep 870 – Luffy’s ‘Snakeman’ Vs Katakuri!!

‘One Piece’ Ep 870 – Luffy’s ‘Snakeman’ Vs Katakuri!!

I must say I really enjoyed the episode. It was a totally different experience from the manga, that animation, those panels, it was all perfectly poured into one episode. I am sure the studio put up lots of efforts into making this one episode. I literally watched the episode 3 times.
I was so excited throughout the fight, I even screamed during some scenes. My excitement levels were off the chart. It would have become a super reaction video had I recorded it.
Anyway in 2019 we won’t be getting another episode as exciting as 870 so enjoy it all you can. Okay Let’s start!!

Episode 870 of ‘One Piece‘ is titled ‘ A Fist of Divine Speed! Another Gear 4 Application Activated!’
The Episode starts where it ended the last time. Luffy stands up again.
We see a flashback of Ruskania Island where Luffy is showing Gear 4 Bound Man to Rayleigh, where they have a sparring match. The anime did a Good Job showing Rayleigh’s powers. He was easily able to dodge all Gear Fourth attacks. Well He isn’t known as the Dark King for nothing, even at that age he easily overcome Gear Fourth’s powers.
Here is the clip from the flashback.

After remembering Rayleigh’s lessons Luffy unveils his Trump Card ‘Snakeman’. Luffy’s Gear Fourth Snakeman transformation is fully shown in the most epic way.
Luffy starts hitting Katakuri with his Python. At first Katakuri gets confused about how Luffy is hitting him but then soon figures out. Katakuri uses his advacend Kenbunshoku to dodge the attacks and hits back Luffy with all his might!!
Katakuri slams Luffy in the ground making a huge hole.
Frustrated Luffy who is also quite hungry at the moment (ofc he’s hungry, it’s been more than 12 hours since he is fighting Katakuri.) declared once again that he will be defeating Katakuri no matter what. Their fierce battle continues again!!
Watch the full fight from the episode.

Notice all of Luffy’s Snakeman attacks are based on different types of snakes, Python, Black Mamba, King Cobra etc.

There is a scene of Rayleigh and Shakky with Shakky wondering if Luffy is alright which is added in the anime. It wasn’t in the manga but it was perfectly fitted in the anime to show Luffy’s advancing powers.

Another scene of Sanji and Pudding returning to the Cacao Island was added in the anime. It shows that Pudding has developed feelings for Sanji but she just can’t be honest with herself. There weren’t scenes like these in the manga, these are added to develop their relationship which was really a good decision by the studio.

  • The anime adds the following:
    • During his two-year training, Luffy shows his Gear Fourth to Rayleigh before having a sparring match.
    • Luffy’s arms chasing after Katakuri while the latter is in rolling donut form.
    • Sanji and Pudding returning to Cacao Island is shown.
    • A scene of Rayleigh and Shakky with Shakky wondering if Luffy is alright.
  • Luffy’s transformation into Snakeman is fully shown in the anime.

You can watch the FULL EPISODE 870 HERE

Episode 871 is titled “Finally Concluded – An Outcome of the Fierce Battle with Katakuri”. It will air on 3rd February 2019.
The long lasted fight of Katakuri and Luffy will finally end in Episode 871!!
